BIO

​

Attorney Matías Monges represents U.S. and international clients in complex commercial litigation, corporate transactions, and high-end business matters.

​

Before founding Matías A. Monges & Associates, he practiced at McConnell Valdés LLC, Puerto Rico's largest law firm, where he focused on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, securities litigation, commercial financing, mortgage law, finance and real estate transactions. Prior, he clerked to Hon. Edgardo Rivera-García, Associate Justice of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court.

 

During law school, he was Associate Editor and Board Member of the Pontifical Catholic Univesity of Puerto Rico Law Review, where he published on government corruption and asset recovery (2016). He also pursued studies in contractual and European private law at the Universität of Salzburg, School of Law (Salzburg, Austria). The exposure to the main features of the various European legal systems helped him enhance his contractual comparative law skills and obtain an international perspective, essential for today's globalized economy.

Acted as a transactional counsel to a bankruptcy trustee in the sale of a physician-owned medical clinic, preserving asstets during a sensitive restructuring.

Served as a counsel in the acquisition of one of the largest U.S. furniture distributors by a Spain-based multinational, navigating complex cross-border negotiations.

BIO

​

Attorney Elisabet García-Torres has extensive experience in general civil, white-collar crimes and commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Her practice encompasses all phases of litigation. She has also successfully represented clients in products liability, contractual, labor disputes and bankruptcy procedures.

​

Before joining Matias A. Monges & Associates, LLC Elisabet founded and led one of the most successful litigation boutique firms in Puerto Rico. As the natural-born litigator on her own, she focused her practice on general litigation and appellate matters before state and federal courts. Prior, she clerked at the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Court of Appeals. While in law school, she served as Associate Editor and member of the Board of Directors of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico Law Review. She authored various law review articles and publications and has been awarded several recognitions and awards for her outstanding litigation and analytical skills.

​

​Ms. García holds an LL.M in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods degree from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School, where she graduated with honors and have participated both as speaker and attendant in a wide range of overseas seminars and academic courses. She actively participate in a wide range of pro-bono activities.
